Its gonna get messy..

Time for another edition of Cavell's food guide! This time, we take you to CARL's Jr, the famous American fastfood outlet serving gastronomical burger proportions, albeit with a very hefty pricetag of course. So far, i have discovered 2 outlets of the now infamous Carl's Jr, one at CBD and the other at marina square.

okok, lemme guess, u all want the juicy details arr, okok..

first up is Carl's Jr's FAMOUS STAR consisting of a large beef patty, like the size of your hand sandwiched between 2 sesame seed buns. Now check out the ingredients, there r tomatoes, pickles and onions and wah, the onions are damn nice lar, i tink they r nicer then BK's whooper onions. They are really thick and the sauces they mix, i think got ketchup and mustard are wah..whew..the aroma hits you like a steamtrain and you'll be anticipating every bite. The bad thing is that if u eat very quickly/ or slowly, all the ingredients will just fall out of the burger and that sux cos even the sauces seem to overflow.
The drinks are free-flow but they are not very fresh, sadly..and the fries can't compare to Bk but they win hands down on quantity. They give u damn a lot of fries and if u upsize to large(add $1), you will eat until sian. Really damn a lot lar!! They also have the Western Bacon Double cheeseburger which is a double juicy beef patty(again the size of your hand) and with crisp bacon slices and a cheese slice. Plus the BBQ sauce looks heavenly when oured on that delightful concoction..however, dun get the chilli-beef fries. They aren'y very good and its damn expensive. Just some chilli, beef and cheese mixture poured on your fries and they are quite ex. however, they come in a burger box so it damn a lot, kinda like a meal by itself..

well, until next time...tune in the another edition of Cavell's foodguide where the Meat are always on the roasting and the drinks are every flowing..

October 11 Tuesday

i went to watch GOAL at PS with ian and zhou. Nice show. About this guy called Santiago Munez who was born in Mexico but was smuggled in to the United States. There he starts playing soccer and he is actually scouted!! ANd then to top it off, he makes it to NEWCASTLE UNITED and moves from trial trainee to first team and he actually scored a devastating freekick for the winner against Liverpool that seals Newcastle's place in Champions League! Talk about FANTASTY FOOTBALL! This is like the real deal!!

lingered around at PS after the two of them went off. Actually i lingered around Times. I duno why but i have always loved bookstores. Can just walk around and read all sorts of stuff. I must have combed the entire bookstore. I wnet to the familiar section to read the Starcraft fanfiction. I know what you're saying, that is like so OLD..well, i find it interesting so squat. anyway, i lost interest after a while. And i must say, the cookbooks there r fantastic! Jamie Oliver's stuff is wonderful. I feel like becoming a culinary critic..eat good stuff and write! Its a pity i duno how to cook, perhaps i shall learn soon. Then those cookbooks will really come in handy. Now i'm just stuck to reading the delectable instructions while ogling at the scrumptious photographs of food. And Jamie Oliver's style is that they are all very easy to make and yet so delicious. Fantastic!

October 10th Monday

Today was the last paper. E1/E8 combine..and what a paper it was. I must admit, it was the best among all the other papers. What a goodway to end the promos! Relaxation and enjoyment here i come!! first, i would like to thank God for his guidance and comfort throughout this period. Thanks. Next is the many prayers that my mom has diligently prayed for me thankyou.

anyway, nothing much la, i was so tired i slept at 5.30pm and i woke up at 5.20am on TUESDAY MORNING! LOL

October 9th

9th October! fantastic day! i'm 18 today..imagine dat! Just 18yrs ago, i was screaming into the face of some nurse! lol! 18 whooo!! can learn how to drive, can Officially DRINK and SMOKE. Can saunter into a bar now and, eh, gimme a Tiger without nervously looking around to see if got undercover CID somewhere! Can watch M18 shows! Dun have to sneak in anymore! WHOOOO!! DEUCE BIGALO here i come!

went to church today and i got n interesting gift frm the RV people. They gave me a ShoeBox(Reebok shoebox; branded ley they say). Inside was all newspaper(damn smart la, purposely make it chinese newspaper) and right at the bottom, ..was 1 FRENCH FRY!! ....Interesting indeed..and they drew a trail of ants..

Dinner was fantastic la! Just fantastic! Went to Outback Steakhouse at Millenia Walk. The place is very cosy but i must admit what attracted my attention was the huge Candy Empire store opposite the restaurant. The place is like overflowing with candy la..all types. From wonka bars to gummi worms. They even have imported english toffees and belgian chocolates. Definitely a wonderland for candie-gooers. They r also dman bloody ex la! The pick and mix cost $3.80 for 100grams. But still, the variety they have is amazing!

Anyway back to Cavell's culinary guide for today! Outback Steakhouse!

We first ordered drinks. I got a lit paper the next day so i stuck to ice lemon tea! They had free refills! And the beer was buy 1 get 1 free! Lol. Well on to the food..We first ordered BLOOMIN' ONIONS which is an outback original. Its like a huge plate with onions arranged in a circular design. I duno how they do it but the dish seems to come from one whole onion. The little pieces are like petals that form a huge flower with an empty middle. And they are deep-fried to a golden-brown and they are absolutely ravishing. These little 'petals' look like they are blooming! And right in the middle, is the cheesy dip. Fantastic! Golden brown to perfection. We also had a bowl of salad which consist of standard greens with multiple dressings and melted cheese. Quite salty but never the less, nice. We also had a plate of darkbrown bread. At first i thought it was a chocolate loaf but apparently it wasn't. It comes complete with a saucer of butter. I actually took some time to choose my maincourse because i realise that almost everytime i eat at a Western-style restaurant, i choose the burgers. I was thinking, come all the way here, eat burgers, quite dumb right, lets try something new. So i decided to get the Braised Steak and what a wise choice it was(stroking my beard and go hmm...)! It came in 2 pieces and i think they weighed 11ouces altogether. That's quite a lot. And they is a sidedish of garlic-mashed potato. Now the thing about braised steak is that it is cooked with plenty of juices and so they steak is unbelievably tender. So unbelievable that i tried to cut a piece with the side of the fork..and i succeeded. Fantastic steak, tender and juicy and at the same time, carrying the same wallop a steak gives you. It felt so good to sit there and whack haha! WE then shared our food with each other, try this try that, and my mom's lamb rack was superb. Very nice!! And guess what, if you pay using a Citibank credit card, you get a free desert. And they don't come each. My mom is quite shrewd, she bargain until we got 2 deserts free! Too many people lar! And we got a Chocolate From Down Under which consists of a fresh-baked pecan brownie, rich vanilla ice cream topped with hot homemade chocolate sauce and chocolate shavings and a Sydney Sinful Sundae with had vanilla ice cream rolled in toasted coconut, covered in chocolate sauce and topped with whipped cream. Unbelievably fantastic! i like the brownie thing best. The brownie is warm and u eat that with a dollop of vanilla ice cream and the combination of warm and cold in your mouth is unbelievably fantastic. ooooh! i got no qualms about going back there to eat again! Food glorious food! However, one setback was that you have to have a fat wallet if u want to enjoy yourselves. The bill was quite long. LOL!

Exams..

Arrrgh, exams! This week has been a very hard week. The papers are quite hard. I realise that if i dun make it, there's no second chance for me..i'm off either to poly or to army. I would have wasted two whole years of academic life..yet, something tells me not to be afraid..God is there and he is watching over me..correcting my mistakes, helping me spot the right questions..granting me favour with my markers..he is there, right by my side in the exam hall. When God is for me, who can be against me..

I was terrified for Math. It was my MAKE OR BREAK PAPER. Gp and Econs had already been completed. I needed math to at least pass. I woke up this morning feeling like shit. I knew that i didn't put enough effort into math. Yet, i poured all my sorrows on God and he told me to look in the GRACE FOR THE MOMENT Inspirational Thoughts For Each Day of the Year. I flipped to October 5 and it read:

WE NEED A GREAT SAVIOR: We come to Christ in and hour of deep need. We abandon the boat of good works...We realise, like Peter, that spanning the gap between us and Jesus is a feat too great for our feet. So we beg for help. Hear his voice. And step out in fear, hoping that our little faith will be enough..
Faith is a desperate dive out of the sinking boat of human effort and a prayer that God will be there to pull us out of the water. Paul wrote about this kind of faith..
''For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast - Ephesians 2:8-9.

When i read that, i felt so relieved. God understands my problem and he knows the urgency of the situation. I m gonna cling onto God with all i've God and i know he will pull me through
