You have captured God's Heart
Just look at the gifts he has given you: He has sent his angels to care for you, his Holy Spirit to dwell in you, his church to encourage you, and his word to guide you. You have privileges only a fiancée could have. Anytime you speak, he listens; make a request and he responds. He will never let you be tempted too much or stumble too far. Let a tear appear on your cheek, and he is there to wipe it. Let a love sonnet appear on your lips, and he is there to hear it. As much as you want to see him, he wants to see you more.
He is building a house for you. And with every swing of the hammer and cut of the saw, he’s dreaming of the day he carries you over the threshold. “There are many rooms in my Father’s house; I would not tell you this if it were not true. I am going there to prepare a place for you. After I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me so that you may be where I am” (John 14:2–3).
You have been chosen by Christ. You are released from your old life in your old house, and he has claimed you as his beloved. “Then where is he?” you might ask. “Why hasn’t he come?”There is only one answer. His bride is not ready. She is still being prepared.
Engaged people are obsessed with preparation. The right dress. The right weight. The right hair and the right tux. They want everything to be right. Why? So their fiancée will marry them? No. Just the opposite. They want to look their best because their fiancée is marrying them. The same is true for us. We want to look our best for Christ. We want our hearts to be pure and our thoughts to be clean. We want our faces to shine with grace and our eyes to sparkle with love. We want to be prepared.
Why? In hopes that he will love us? No. Just the opposite. Because he already does. You are spoken for. You are engaged, set apart, called out, a holy bride. Forbidden waters hold nothing for you. You have been chosen for his castle. Don’t settle for one-night stands in the arms of a stranger.
Be obsessed with your wedding date. Guard against forgetfulness. Be intolerant of memory lapses. Write yourself notes. Memorize verses. Do whatever you need to do to remember. “Aim at what is in heaven . . . Think only about the things in heaven” (Col. 3:1–2). You are engaged to royalty, and your Prince is coming to take you home.
Get Ready!
Are you ready?! Ever Ready!!
Time to begin my get fit for NS campaign. Do my pull-ups, sit-ups, crunches and runs. I have gotten a lot of advice from my friends. Practice pumping(push-ups). A lot. OK!!
Contrary to old beliefs, the army does not serve crap food anymore. So i dun have to attempt to cook my own meals now hahaha. However, i must start learning how to sew stuff. My last attempt at sewing was in Secondary 2. Back then, my feeble attempts at using a sewing machine resulted in an oblong shaped pencil case that had to be re-stitched by my teacher. In the end, she did the whole thing for me. hahahaha. Oh, i need to practice my washing of clothes also. Heard they give u a pail. Sum thanks! What happened to a washing machine. And while you're at it, what about a nice laundry lady? hahaha, ok stop crapping.
*My runs have been postponed. Due to bad weather. How come whenever i want to run, it rains! I shall try again tmr!
*ok, push-ups! Lets go!!
Just Follow Law
Me: What movie are we watching?
Na: Just follow lor (law)
Me: Follow wad?
The show that just came onto the big screen. Directed by our much-acclaimed Jack Neo, this movie is about the civil sector and its web of beauracracies. He even cameos!! Woots! As the doctor who diagnoses the condition that Tanya Chew( Fann Wong) and Lim Teng Zui( Gurmit Singh) are in.
* Warning spoiler ahead.
The movie basically pokes fun at the civil sector. The endless forms, rules and regulations, corporate backstabbing and just plain evilness. Ok, the rules are a bit crazy. They really highlight the endless procedures one has to endure(while carrying it out) just to settle something as simple as turning the air conditioner on after work for some overtime. The crux of the story is the fact that Fann and Gurmit switch souls. So basically u got a Corporate bigshot director who has a personality of a 'beng' and a 'beng' who is apparently too smart to be a beng.
* footnote: Not all 'bengs' are stupid, some are actually quite clever. Please. Thanks. I dun want to get walloped on the street.
Anyway, they switch souls and try in vain to salvage the situation, to no avail. In the end, they never switch back. They just get married. LOL.
Ok, there has been much hype about Fann Wong's attempts to portray herself as a 'beng' e.g. scratching her ass and crotch, sitting as if she couldn't care less and walking in a manner of pomposity that is spewing arrogance. And i have to admit, she did it pretty well.
My best part was when she woke up and went to the loo to relieve herself. Now, the switch has just been made so its a 'beng' soul inside her body. She stands at the toilet, lowers her pants and does her thing. She realises there is a puddle of water collecting on her feet and her pants are wet. She stares in the mirror. Horror floods her face; the same look of horror when u realise ur results suck! (ok, stop reminding yourself that ur results r out on friday!). She grabs her chest in shock! She proceeds to check her vital parts that distinguish the Men from the Women! Something is not right! ( For those lost, imagine u r a guy trapped in a girl's body). She stares at the mirror clutches her face and mutters, ' NABE!'
Classic.
Bai Nian Sunday

DAy 3: Tuesday
arrrgh! tmr back to school! face the lil kiddies again!!! No more angpow collecting and bah kwa feasting!
Actually dragged myself out of bed today to go Yio Chu Kang, which is like so far away, to meet my old Barker friends to play soccer. Quite fun sia, talk about fond memories and see how far we're grown now. We all have changed somehow, some of us are bigger and more handsome(grin), while some have become more mature. Its rather nice, seeing the change and thinking about the past times we had together. I have this poem composed by my friend.
here are the last 4 stanzas by my composer friend. This was when we were 16.
The time we spent were memorable ones,
Were those I had lots of fun,
Never will i forget those good old days,
Every second, a gift in many ways
The days in school were just so fun,
Never would I want to miss a single one
Thinking about the times we laugh and play,
Helping one another, ensuring no one goes astray,
Thick and thin, we've been together,
Thats why i'll remember you forever
Now we part my good old friends,
For i know our friendship never ends,
The friendship fostered over the many years,
Is one i cherish with love and tears
For now, no matter how far we would part,
You're always remembered in my heart
Someday, Somehow we'll meet again
Somday, Somewhere down memory lane.
Now we are 20. Those were the good old days.
Went shopping after that and guess what! I BOUGHT THE LATEST FOXTROT!! WOOO! JAM-PACKED FOXTROT!!!
CNY 2007 Day 2
DAy 2 : Monday
Went for the annual Mee Siam lunch at my aunt's place from my grandma's side of the family. The Tan family. Drove all the way to Pasir Ris!! I just found out it is bloody far away! Even with luxury of a car!! Ohh, speaking of cars, i remembered Sunday, the first day of CNY. Saw an old woman on the road side lying prone in a pool of blood. Quite sad case. Apparently got knocked down by a bus. Anyway, the mee siam was different this year! I duno y, but i could apparently tolerate it! Honestly, i always dread the mee siam lunch every year. Dun really like it at all. Just mee siam, the curry, eggs, tofu and chives. Bleargh. Yet this year was not too bad.I tink i know why. It was the bah kwa hahaha!!
Oh, i found out my mom received as a gift 1kg of bahkwa from our interior designer who is apparently my uncle's wife! LOOOL! 1000g of BAH KWA! Pure roasted PORK oozing with fats! One bite of its succulent meat would result in a fountain of pork jucies that would flood your mouth. The soft aromatic tenderness of the meat coupled with the..okok..stop dreaming. Back to point. Anyway, thats a freaking load of BAH KWA hahaha!
Drove home and lazed around before going off to my cousin's place (mom's side from day 1 dinner). They stay at Hougang! thanks. Went there and slacked! they actually played mahjong! i m so gonna ask my mom to teach me. Apparently she was owning on that night!
CNY 2007 1
i have to say, every year, the angpows get lesser and lesser. wah lau eh. Not only that. I have to contribute money to the family now cos i m working. That means even less money! wah lau again. Still, CNY rocks! Who can resist the bah kwa.
Day 1 : Sunday
The annual gathering at some great grand uncle's house from my dad's side of the family; the infamous Chee family. All the Chees were there, well, most of them anyway. Very very big! Means more angpow! :) I will always remember their bowl of punch in the centre of the room. Every year the same punch! Its quite nice, made from a concoction of 7-up, rose syrup, lime juice and i duno wad else they put inside. Rather refreshing and it complements the bah kwa! i love bah kwa. hahaha.
Saw the same YOUNG aunties and old grand aunties again. My aunts are young cos they are like, around me age?! The family was quite happening, had kids that were many years apart. And guess what, my grand dad was the eldest child! LOOOL! So these young teenagers whom i only see once a year are my aunties! And i got an aunt whom i found out is a teacher. She teaches in Nanyang Girls High; the same aunt who i tink 2 years ago, went back-packing solo in the regions of Japan! Cool stuff.
Anyway, had to face the same talk again haha! Its become a tradition!
Remark 1: WAH! SO BIG ALREADY R! LAST TIME I REMEMBER U WERE HERE! ( gestures to some exaggerated height somewhere around the knee region)
Remark 2: WAH! SO BIG R! where now? JC? POLY? Secondary school? ( i guess if u whack all the available learning institutions, u r bound to hit the right mark sometime!)
Remark 3: I remember you!!! WHat is your name?? Oh, Cavell? Hmmm...thats a very unique name! First time i heard of it. (sum thanks! u hear it every year!)
Cavin was rather toot that day. Damn damn rude. People wish him happy new year, he didn;t bother to stand up or say anything. just shake hand. receive angpow, not even a thank you! and when they walk away, he opens them!! BISH! ought to get slapped!
After that, had lunch at some grand aunty's place! good good food. She is Chee Soon Juan's Mother. hahaha. Spent the afternoon watching Dungeons and Dragons on tv with my aunt lol!
Dinner was at our new place. Cousins came over, from my Mom's side of the family. Great time watching Prison Break!!! hahaha!
So toot that they are so cute!
the kids really make me laugh. A lot. With their hilarious answers and damn noob questions. I made them do a comprehension from their P3 english workbook. The passage was about manta-rays. Check out the answers. (excuse the grammatical mistakes btw. I'm just trying to follow the author's answer)
1: What does the manta ray's body look like?
Correct Answer: It is rather flat and shaped like a disc. It also has a long wingspan with a long spiny tail at the end.
Noob's Answer: It look like he mom and father. [ well, its technically correct... ]
4: Why do you think fishermen fear the manta-ray?
Correct Answer: They fear the manta ray because of its massive size and its long sharp tail.
Noob answer 1: the fisher man died [where got fisher man die? the passage never say anything ]
Noob answer 2: It is because it is very heavy and it make us pain [ sounds like an overweight massager during an overnight spa session gone wrong ]
5: Does the manta ray deserve its name 'the devil fish'! Give a reason for your answer.
Correct Answer: No because despite its appearance, it is a gentle giant of the sea that eats only tiny plants and plankton.
Noob answer 1: No, because it doesn't bit people. If you disturb the manta-ray, it will kill you
Noob answer 2: Yes because, it killed crocodile hunter
SO tooot!
Mr Meanie
i must admit, compared to the other teachers, i have been awfully nice. Play games with the class, get to know them personally, wave to them whenever i see them. I decided that i will try something different to a new class. A class that has never seen me before. I stayed within the limits of course.
First up. I gave out the work allocated. There was this smart alec of a boy who blurted out loudly, 'HAR! I dun want to do lar'. I seized the opportunity. I stood up, and shouted, 'WHO SAID THAT! WHO SAID THAT' I glared around and caught sight of the culprit cowering behind his worksheet. His classmates melted away in the speed of light and sabo-ing fingers immediately pointed to confirm my suspicions. I walked over.
Me: 'WHAT DID YOU SAY! YOU DON'T WANT TO DO YOUR WORK?!'
Him: " i wannnt tooo doo....'
Me: ' WHAT DID YOU SAY?'
Him: ''i wwwwannnt tooo dooo myyy wooorrk..''
Me: ' THEN DO!'
hee. yaya only. i know he certainly deserves punishment. for such a disrespectful comment.
Secondly, i decided to be very strict. A small act of mischief immediately resulted in more scolding. The scolding increased. It reached a point where i just had to glare and there would be silence.
The Ultimatum. 'Class, i will give you a spelling test. You will learn the words from this worksheet (*points to a worksheet that has a lot of hard words). You have 1/2 hour to learn. I will test you when the time is up.
Effect: Immediately, the class stared at me in horror. It climaxed when an indian girl gripped by chest and said to me, teacher..i think i will get a heart attack. * AHYA! i started smiling! Wasted!
I decided to make it more stressful. I put my own clock there on the board. Every 5 minutes, i would deduct the time shown to show them how much time they had left.
When it reached the last minute, there was a flurry of papers and lots of scratching(of heads) as they tried desperately to cram last minute stuff.
The test began. The first word was one of the hardest. Apprehension. Oh ya, i forgot to tell you, they are only 10 years old.
Home
I have officially moved back to 303 pasir panjang road. Please do not roam around outside my house. Thank You
School is like a Dota Game
School is like a Dota Game. You have to gain exp to level up, to improve your skills to tackle more formidable heroes easily.
I must say i am beginning to aquire certain skills.
Teleport: Is a channelling spell. Takes time to move from place to place.
I have a knack for disappearing from my seat and suddenly appearing all over the classroom. My skill finally leveled up when one girl suddenly blurted out, ' WAH TEACHER, you teleport from where?!'
Blink: To teleport from one end of the classroom to the other instantly. Such a move has a cooldown. But it is rather short. Multiple blinks may lead to retinal damage. Always expect your foe to be surprised.
This is even faster than teleport. It requires lots of stamina and speed though.
Blink Strike: To teleport from one end of the classroom to the other instantly. Such a move has a cooldown. Once teleported, the skill will damage the foe. Expect unexpected results. Such as trembling.
My favourite. Combined with crippling fear, it is a potent combination guaranteed to snuff out any mischief. I love to practice this skill. To suddenly disappear from my seat and appear behind the boy who is happily jabbering away with his friend. From then, Crippling Fear takes over and the friend immediately realises i'm standing directly behind the boy. The friend shuts up. However, the boy is too engrossed in his own conversation to take notice. Only when the fear gains momentum that the full effect is felt. The boy realises his friend is not talking to him and is however trying hard to PRETEND to do his work. He becomes suspicious. Finally, he turns around. The Cobra Strikes.
Crippling Fear (Passive): Linked to Blink Strike. Foes around the area immediately get crippled with fear such that they lose speech and brain ability. I have to admit, i'm still working on it. Apparently, i am much too nice to most classes.
Dog and Bone: This skill has a high gold cost. Similar to the idea of rewarding.
Windwalk: To appear suddenly behind the foe. Backstab damage increases tremendously. Expect lots of grammy award nominations for best actor/actress who transform their misdemeanour into prime examples of 'studying hard'. Rather different from blink as people who possess Gem of True Sight (those paying attention) can see you.
I must say, i have met my fair share of good actors. Mostly on the telly. There are some outstanding individuals here however. There was this boy who trasnformed his act of throwing a water bottle at his friend into a back-scratcher! On top of that, he added the cherry on the cake by using his free hand to scratch his head, as if pondering on such a difficult question. Talk about good acting!
Scream of Pain: Skill with area effect. Such a skill has a high mana cost. Warning, may cause a sore throat. Yet, its effect is immediate. Instant silence results. Plus lots of foes covering their ears.
I have used this skill numerous times. However, i only use it in the rarest of circumstances. To maintain discipline usually...
Bash (passive). This attack results in stunning. However, the stunning period is rather irrational. Can range from 1 second to total silence.
So far, my bash percentage is rather low. Of all the scolding i have meted out, there are only a few who get stunned. So far no perma stun (permanent stun).
Evasion: This skill is a defense ability. Enemy heroes may use in verbal attacks to gain vengeance.
So far, my evasion is quite high. I usually ignore such wisecracks. Yet there are times when i receive damage. Result: Scream of Pain followed by Bash. Effect: Improve Crippling Fear.
Will Update Soon. When i aquire more skills.
Babel
The current M-18 show.
*Note, spoiler ahead. If you are not 18 and above, please do not read further. It may bore you to death.
I don't know what all the hype is about in Babel. The show that has a biblical meaning of miscommunication where God stopped the people of the world from building a tower that could reach the sky by suddenly giving them different languages. This show is certainly about miscommunication. Its storyline is boosted by a 4 sub-plots that are ongoing and they are actually linked together.
The opening scene shows a group of Moroccan shepherds who recently obtain a hunting rifle to shoot off wild jackals that prey on their goats. Now, the father who owns the gun, loans the rifle to his two sons to take care of the goats while he goes to another area during the day to trade for goods. His trigger happy sons, decide to win the rifleman badge of good shooting from the Moroccan mountain shooting academy and try to stop a tourist bus by shooting bullets at it. One of these bullets, actually hit an American tourist (Cate Blanchett) and she suffers severe blood loss. Her distraught husband is stuck in the middle of a bloody desert and doesn't know what to do.
Flash to the American tourist and her family. She has left behind 2 young kids in America under the care of a Mexican nanny who decide to take them back to her hometown to visit her son who is getting married. In spite of minor difficulties, she makes the trip with the 2 kids in tow.
Flash to a Japanese girl who is deaf-mute. No men pay attention to her because of her phyiscal impairment. She is without her mother who passed away and her father tries in vain to foster a relationship with her. She is desperate for affection and even resorts to going commando(means without underwear) to attract guys.
Now, the link. The rifle.
The rifle belongs to the Jap girl's father, who went to Morocco to hunt. While in Morocco, he gives the rifle as a gift to his Moroccan guide who later sells it to the shepherd. See the repercussions.
Now the problems. The American tourist is dying and she needs to be evacuated immediately. Trouble is, she is in the middle of a desert on a tour-bus full of angsty selfish old people who could care less if she died. They prefer to be out of the hot sun and somewhere cool. Moreover, there is no available ambulance. Despite her husband's(Brad Pitt) calls to the American embassy for help, they have to settle political issues before they are allowed to send in an American helicopter.
Flash. The Moroccan police are hot on the trail of the shooters. They find out that it belongs to the Moroccan shepherd and are hot on his heels to catch him. He flees with his 2 boys.
Flash. The Mexican nanny and the 2 American kids had enjoyed themselves at the nanny's son's wedding and are now heading home. They try to outrun the American border patrol but are stranded in the desert with no where to go. They are lost and miles from anywhere with no food, direction or water.
Flash. The Japanese police trace the original owner of the hunting rifle to the Japanese father. They want to interview him but have to face his daughter who is crying out to be loved. She even resorts to seducing her dentist and a police man to gain attention. MAJOR PROBLEM! She strips in front of the Police Officer in order to make him love her. He doesn't. I also wun love her honestly. With that kind of body, who would hahaha. Only a pretty face.
Flash. Conclusions. The American tourist is finally evacuated and sent to a hospital where she is treated and later released.
Flash. The Moroccan police have caught up with the Moroccan shepherd and his 2 sons. They have a gun fight and the eldest son is killed. They finally surrender.
Flash. The Mexican nanny leaves the kids behind and goes to seek for help. In the middle of the bloody desert. She finds a Border patrol vehicle and tells the officer that she is with 2 small children who are lost. They rescue all of them. American officials check her history and find out that she is illegally working in the U.S and immediately deport her back to Mexico.
Flash. The Japanese girl is consoled by the Police Officer who tries to understand her predicament. He finally leaves. The father returns and finds the daughter on the balcony, naked. They embrace and she cries.
Flash. The end. You may wonder why there are so many flashes. Well, it could be the number of jumps the story moves as it segues among the 4 sub-plots. Or it could be the number of times the japanese actress removes her clothing.
Road Rage
I have begun to experience my share of irritating and selfish road-hoggers.
Example 1:
I was driving mom home the other day and i was following some lorry. The guy was driving like a cow! So bloody slow! At first i thought there was something in front like a huge container truck or something so i didn't bother much. It got to a stage where i was just watching the Lorry's ass all the time. Damn sian. Now since the right lane was obstructed (the proper lane for over-taking), i overtook via the left lane. Means change lane to left lane, accelerate, and then cut in front of the lorry. Now, when i changed to the left lane, i was behind a taxi and it was going quite fast so i accelerated. I tried to squeeze my way back into my original lane and guess what. The taxi on lane stopped to turn left. And the lorry driver decided, hey, i m a cow, i should move faster now.(rhyme scheme purely coincidental) so he accelerated. Now, i m halfway into the lane already. And then the lorry accelerated. I was caught in no man's land. Should i stop behind the cab, or try to squeeze my way. I finally decided to slam brakes. Was fuming mad. Of all the times for the lorry to accelerate, he had to do it when i was over-taking. Bloody selfish idiot. Was damn tempted to chase him, drive up next to him, wind down the window, show the finger and drive off but i couldn't. Too many cars.
Example 2: Was driving to Pasir Panjang to deliver some belongings and the main road outside the house has only 2 lanes and both are going in opposite directions. And there was this ROAD-Hogger. Means he/she drive so slowly...at a snail's pace, and hold up all the other cars behind. Since its only one-lane, there isn't really much chance to overtake. Was so slow. He was driving at 30!!! It even dipped to 20 when he/she felt like it. Arrgh. Despite repeated flashing of my headlights, he/she was still oblivious. Arrgh.
Example 3: Driving home from Pasir Panjang back to Hilltop. There was this lorry who suddenly swerve onto my lane. well, his front wheel and part of his front entered my lane. No signal, No warning nothing. I jamm brake. Then he happily swerve back onto his lane. Bloody drunk driver. If u drink, dun drive.
A lesson from the sage: I guess when people see the P-plate, they will want to ka-cheow a bit. P-plates means those drivers on probation. Once you pass ur driving test and get ur license, u r on 1 year probation so gota display the shiny triangular sign. After 1 year, u can take it off. So for now, i m still a new driver. Maybe thats why more experienced drivers try to bully u on the road. Well, i must say that the 'sage' himself has experienced MY share of pestering drivers, who purposely cut into ur lane without warning or horn at you unnecessary. In case u duno, the 'sage' is my dad and it is his car i m driving haha. When he drives, my P-plates are still there haha. Cannot take out. Got the sticker. Well, i was telling him about the selfish drivers on the road and he told me something that took me back a bit and got me thinking.
He said, when u see an L-plate on the road (means learner driver who prominently displays the plate that says NOOB on the front and back. I m kidding, they display a letter L), dun u want to overtake him and try and disturb him as well. And i was like, oh ya, i do that to lesser experienced drivers too haha!! The vicious cycle goes on haha!!
D for Dota
ian came over and helped me install Dota! Yay!! And it works!! Can finally fool around a bit at home liao. Dun have to spend money and play outside haha. My brother was watching me play the other night and he was totally entertained. Now the irritating maplestory keeps bugging me to teach him how to play Dota! LOL
Veggie Tales
I'm not talking about the movie about a group of Christian vegetables and how they experience Christmas. It is about the time i had vegetarian food. Yes me! The non-cheena Chinese guy. Yes i ate vegetarian food. I can just picture ur bulging google-eyes and horrified stares. I gotta admit though, it was by pure accident.
I met Cow at Westmall. Had to discuss Natm. For those ignorant few, Natm is something coming up haha. Anyway, i was at the foodcourt pondering on what to eat. I was thinking, something filling and cheap. And i saw this 'wunderful' store in front of me serving the most delicious food. For a moment, i was elated! Cai Fan! Economic Rice. So i went to happily order the green vegetables, hashbrown, lemon chicken and a fried prawn roll. I was like wah, so cheap r, $3. Ok la, decent enough and went back to the table to eat.
My first bite was one that brought pure horror to my face. It tasted awful!! And i thought i was eating lemon chicken!! ( No offence to u veggie people out there hee hee ). I simply couldn't believe it! I ate another mouthful. Wah, really tasted like shit. I had a nagging suspicion that something was wrong. Then cow told me, eh , u eating vegetarian food. So i turned around and i saw the stall sign. It confirmed my suspicions. Veggie Food indeed!
How do Monks survive sia...
Ban Jia
been really busy moving house. Dun take it literally. I'm just transferring all my belongings from Hilltop to Pasir Panjang. I actually found out the translation of Pasir Panjang
Pasir = Sand
Panjang = Long
Therefore, Pasir Panjang = Long Sands. Cool aye?
Moving has been really tiring. Pack, Load stuff. Drive to Pasir Panjang. Unload. Restack boxes and bags. Drive back to hilltop. Re-pack new stuff into boxes and bags. Load in car. Drive back to Pasir Panjang. The cycle continues...
The only thing good is my house. I gotta admit, its damn nice :)
